Press Release from Newcastle City Council
“It is with with regret that the popular Sunday Quayside Market will have to be postponed during the restricted period. This means it will not take place on Sunday September 20th. Similarly the Farmers Market at the Monument remains suspended.
“Unfortunately, unlike licensed venues, it is not possible for the Council to ensure Covid-secure protocols at the market, such as contact tracing and designated areas to support socially distanced household and support bubbles.
“We appreciate that this will be tough to hear for the many traders and visitors to the markets, but this decision has been taken to ensure we are fully compliant with the Government’s regulations and guidance.”
